Research & Development

Ideas are born in our visionaries' minds, converted into projects and brought to market maturity in our products. Realizing these ideas is where our true competence lies - and we have committed ourselves to pioneering a path to the future.

Custom-Fit

Custom-Fit is an industry led project, started in September 2004, to develop a new knowledge based design and manufacturing process for customized products which integrates Rapid Manufacturing, 3D Body Scanning, information technology and material science.

The aim of Custom-Fit is to create a fully integrated system for the design, production and supply of individualized products. These products are customized to fit the requirements of the consumers, both geometrically and functionally. The parts or components will be produced directly from CAD data using Rapid Manufacturing.

Custom-Fit is an Integrated Project funded under the Sixth Framework Programme of the European Union over a period of four years and a half (No 507437, NMP2-CT-2004-507437).

MYNET

MyNet is a research project with goverenmental aid by the BMBF within the framework "Research for the production of tomorrow" with the thematic focus set on "customized products to cost of standard products". MyNet aims to research and develop technologies for an integrated crosslinking of the Customer - Retailer - Manufacturer - Supplier chain for customized garments by means of an company spanning information and communication platform connecting existing system infrastructure at the same time. The approach aims to significantly reduce delivery times and to minimize extra costs for customized garments and thus to create the foundations for market near implementation of customized garments in the apparel industry.

Virtual Try-On

It is the aim of this BMBF sponsored project to research and develop new VR technologies for application to realistic, 3D, and realtime-capable simulations and images of individual, virtual customers and articles of clothing. These new technologies will first be integrated into value added and product creation processes in the clothing sector and then evaluated. They will also form the technological foundations for the creation of VR consumer applications. In this way, both customer and clothes are embedded in a VR world. The customer can see himself in a virtual mirror and can try on virtual items of clothing in this VR.

Mass Customization

The associated project "Mass Customization" offers the German Textile and Clothing Industries excellent opportunities to open up new markets through the production of industrially and economically manufactured mass-production clothing. The project itself is a worldwide first - a central production management and control system oversees the entire process chain from automatic customer measuring with 3D Body scanning through individual cut construction to the production of a men's suit in a prototype model workshop.

E-TAILOR

The aim of the E Tailor project is to integrate into the European Clothing Industry 3D Body Scanning and advanced CAD methods for E Commerce applications.

The project will make the basic technology available to the entire process chain for the sale of customer-individualized clothing items, as well as implement a prototype of the necessary infrastructure.

The following three areas will be examined:

  1. Creation of a suitable infrastructure to solve the sizes problem in the EU. This means Europe-wide standardization, involving the introduction of "mass measuring" to ascertain current information about body measurements, resulting in the creation of clothing size tables.
  2. Development of a "Customized Clothing Infrastructure" - manufacture of customer-individual clothing.
  3. Creation of a prototype, virtual sales platform for customer-individual clothing.

E-T CLUSTER

The E Tailor Cluster (ETC) Project, sponsored by the European Union, aims at the development of mutual standards for the integration of contact-free 3D measurement of the entire body, advanced CAD methods and personalized avatars in the European Clothing Industry, by creating a synergic bond between the "E Tailor", "Fashion Me" and "Center for 3D Electronic Commerce" projects.

Mobile ECIP (Scanliner)

The European Center of Individual Production (ECIP) Project stands for the 'individualization and manufacture of customer-specific products at prices comparable to those of conventional mass-produced items'. The mobile ECIP takes this a step further in the Scanliner, a mobile showroom that can bring scanning technology to the end user in almost any location.
