Detailed Design of Manual Operations
eM-Human provides a virtual 3D environment in which manual operations can be designed and optimized. A library of human models of different genders and sizes, based on international standards, ensures that the workplace design is suitable for a wide range of workers. The human models provide inverse kinematics and posture calculations for the entire body, enabling the detailed, accurate and efficient design of human tasks. Different grasping and walking macros allow users to quickly and easily define human motions. |
Checking the Feasibility of Tasks
| eM-Human provides capabilities to detect collisions between the human and the environment and to analyze reachability to ensure feasibility of human tasks. A separate screen window, showing the worker´s field-of-vision, allows close examination of tasks from the worker´s point of view. |
| Ergonomic analysis functions qualify manual operations with respect to ergonomic standards. Using the ergonomic standard methods NIOSH 81 and NIOSH 91, lifting and carrying tasks can be effectively examined. The Burandt-Schultetus analysis method calculates the maximum permissible force. The OWAS method helps to analyze work postures. |
With eM-Human, assembly cycle times can be determined -- for example, by using the MTM UAS methodology. This is a widely accepted standard for determining executing times for manual operations by using original data sheets published by the MTM Association.
Using the results of the time and ergonomic analysis, workplace elements can be rearranged, and simulations can be repeated without explicit task modification.

Generating Manufacturing Information
| eM-Human, in combination with eM-Work Instructions, can be used to generate work instructions containing snapshots and animations. These documents provide excellent training material for workers on the shopfloor, and can be distributed throughout the enterprise over the Web. |

RAMSIS -- the leading human model in the automotive industry is now completely integrated into the working environment of eM-Human. This enables the evaluation and optimization of even the most complex assembly processes during the planning phase of production.
RAMSIS in eM-Human connects the long-standing know-how in the field of human modeling with the experience of the market leader in Manufacturing Process Management (MPM).

The human model RAMSIS was developed by Human Solutions in cooperation with the German automotive industry to ergonomically analyze and design automobile interiors. More than 70% of all automobile producers are now using it.
RAMSIS in eM-Human enables users to run most complex assembly studies quickly and easily. It also lets users analyze difficult-to-access or extremely cramped working environments, special positions of the worker (e.g., lying down, kneeling, bending, etc.) and hard-to-see assemblies, according to ergonomic viewpoints.
The human model RAMSIS is based on highly exact, statistically validated physical data, adapted to nationalities or special customer databases. Developed through numerous experiments of individual actions, RAMSIS automatically calculates the posture for each task. These internationally unique properties raise the analysis of human tasks to a new level of quality.
