Package Ergonomic - ERG
The package Ergonomic was designed to be a tool for accessibility and field-of-vision investigations performed on digital models, e.g. car interiors. It enhances VD2 base modules with these capabilities.
By integrating a virtual human model in VD2, the real observer can map his own body geometry, movements and field-of-vision into a model and synchronize it to the environment. This enables a maximum of interaction with the digital model.
By switching between various body geometries (e.g. extreme types like heights of over two meters or smaller than 1.6 meter) and the corresponding different eye positions, investigations of the resulting field-of-vision perspectives can be performed very quickly. Collision detection tests using the human model in the environment can be performed to determine very simple accessibility analysis for operating switches or buttons, occupational posture analysis, or simply to investigate head and leg freedom in vehicles.
Another application is the interactive positioning of objects or components in a model. This approach allows the movement path and assembly path to be recorded as documentation. Such analyzed object positions can be output as a transformation matrix and then post-processed, e.g. in a CAD system.
