Human Solutions takes part in a new cooperative project: Green Light for BRIDGE.IT

The German Ministry of Education and Research sponsors "Architecture Design for the Visualization and Optimization of Production Processes"

Kaiserslautern, 13th January 2004 – The Human Solutions GmbH of Kaiserslautern, Germany is taking part in yet another cooperative project: in the next two years, BRIDGE.IT will create an architecture design for the visualization and optimization of production processes. The objective is to create a comprehensive portal, which will integrate and analyze a wide range of data from heterogeneous inspection systems. This platform can thus be used in all industrial sectors in which the highest demands are placed on outer surface manufacture - like the automotive industry for instance, or in plastic processing sectors. The Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) is sponsoring the project to the tune of 1.852 million Euros. Other participants besides Human Solutions are: Fachhochschule Münster, Fraunhofer Institut, Freudenberg Anlagen-und Werkzeugtechnik GmbH, Psipenta Software Systems and Steinbichler Optotechnik.

In the light of the current “Zero Defects” policy, surface inspection is gaining in importance in all the prominent industrial segments. Even the smallest deviations must be traced as soon as possible in order to further improve production manufacturing processes and reduce costs at the same time.

The BRIDGE.IT project partners all come from different sectors. "In the run-up to the project, processes in the household, automotive and pharmaceutical industries were closely observed. The result was that in spite of the different manufacturing processes, an evaluation can indeed be carried out based on a common matrix of defect and quality attributes", explained Dr. Andreas Seidl, Managing Director of Human Solutions GmbH. "That is why the objective of BRIDGE.IT is a cross-sector architecture design."

For BRIDGE.IT, Human Solutions can fall back on experience gained in several joint research projects: As recently as a few months ago, OPAQ was brought to a successful conclusion. "OPAQ addressed surface inspection systems in the press shop and as such could be described as a predecessor of BRIDGE.IT", said Dr. Seidl.
