Human Solutions adds a further tradition-rich commercial vehicle manufacturer to its customer lists

Scania chooses RAMSIS in CATIA V5. In future, trucks will be designed using software from Kaiserslautern.

Kaiserslautern, 6 October 2005 – The Human Solutions Company has acquired yet another commercial vehicles manufacturer as a customer: From now on, Scania will be using the software solution RAMSIS in CATIA V5 to develop its truck drivers' cabs. Scania, steeped in tradition, was founded in Sweden in 1891. The company has been building trucks since 1902 and is now one of the leading makers of 16-ton trucks.

RAMSIS has established itself as the standard in vehicle development: More than 70 % of all car manufacturers worldwide use the RAMSIS CAD solution (computer-supported, mathematical-anthropological system for vehicle occupant simulation) in the design process of vehicle interiors. With the help of virtual human beings, a wide range of postures and movement sequences is analyzed from an ergonomic standpoint.

Scania will use the RAMSIS software variant in CATIA V5. The solution purchased by the company meets the special, inherent requirements of commercial vehicle design and construction. Typical seating positions for truck drivers are taken into account in all calculations. The necessary data was collected by means of extensive body and posture surveys of truck drivers. As well as routine activities carried out during operation, tasks that include e.g. engaging gears/switches and using the handbrake are predefined as standard. RAMSIS also enables the Scania company to integrate its own experience and know-how.
