10 years RAMSIS Excellence Award – Request for applications for 2017

For the tenth year in succession, 2017 will see Human Solutions host the RAMSIS Excellence Award for students, academic staff and doctoral graduates who are studying ergonomics with the focus on vehicle or cockpit design (Interior). Projects can be submitted in English or German. The deadline for entries is the June 30, 2017.

Human Solutions GmbH has brought science and practice together with the RAMSIS Excellence Award for the past ten years, because the winners of the competition present their project at the RAMSIS User Conference (RUC), an annual event for automotive industry employees who work with RAMSIS – the world’s leading ergonomics tool for the automotive industry. This digital manikin by Human Solutions makes it possible to fine-tune the interior of vehicles to meet the needs of the driver and passengers.

“In recent years, the RAMSIS Excellence Award has been a stepping stone into the corporate world for many researchers,” says Dr. Andreas Seidl, CEO of the Human Solutions GmbH. “The RUC lies close to our hearts, because there are relatively few ergonomics experts in the automotive industry – so the competition is a very close-knit yet consistently high-profile event for all concerned. We really welcome the impetus that the young scientists introduce to automotive ergonomics with their projects.”

What kind of projects can be entered?

The focal themes of submitted projects and theses should per-tain to vehicle design in the broadest sense of the word – but they may also address the cognitive assimilation and processing of information, the processing of anthropometrical topics and the analysis of comfort and driver models. The analysis projects should preferably be carried out using the RAMSIS ergonomics tool (e.g. mirror configuration for a specific vehicle), but this is not compulsory.

What kind of prizes will be awarded?

The RAMSIS Excellence Award is presented for the best scien-tific work in each of two categories: €1,000 will be awarded for the best doctoral thesis; the best scientific project from young science students or graduates (master's degree, bachelor's de-gree or thesis) will receive €500.

Who chooses the winners?

An interdisciplinary jury with representatives from science and industry will adjudge the rankings of the submitted entries. In addition to addressing the scientific standards, the jury will focus on the degree of technical applicability and relevance to practice as well as the degree of innovation.

Deadline for applications and the award ceremony

The application deadline for the RAMSIS Excellence Award is June 30th, 2017. The prize-giving ceremony for the winners will take place during the annual RAMSIS User Conference, planned for the 19th and 20th of September 2017.
